Lancaster House prepare a Glass of Warming Festive Cheer

Lancaster House Bar Manager, Tom Chalmers, is passionate about port. As we deck the halls at Lancaster House with festive cheer, Tom has been concocting a warming Christmas port using our premium

Sandeman port which he has kindly agreed to share with us.

wildboar-12-15-4

Ingredients:

  • 25 parts (1 bottle) Sandeman Founders Reserve Ruby Porto
  • 6 parts (200ml) Brandy
  • ½ cup (170g) Sugar
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 6 Cloves
  • 1 Orange, cut into small slices
  • 4 parts (150ml) Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

Method:

Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan and warm gently (be careful not to boil). Serve hot in traditional mulled wine glasses, or your favourite mug.

… or alternatively

If you find mulled port too heavy, try this refreshing chilled version.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle Sandeman Founders Reserve Ruby Porto
  • 1 Orange
  • 1 Lemon
  • 2 Star Anise
  • 4 Cloves
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • Lemonade

Method:

Pare thin strips of zest from the orange and lemon and add them to a medium-sized saucepan with the Port, the juice from your orange, lemon and the remaining ingredients. Warm gently (again being careful not to boil) for around 20 minutes and leave to cool completely. Serve in ice-filled glasses with slices of lemon and orange and top up with lemonade.
