Gin of the Month – Burleigh’s London Dry

Waterhead’s premium gin collection just gets larger and larger. Our featured gin this month is Burleighs London Dry and is relatively new to the market. Despite it being the new kid on the block, it has quickly gained respect from the Bar & Grill team at Waterhead.

From Dream to Reality

Ever had an idea and seen it come to life in lightning speed? That’s exactly what happened to Phil Burley, when he dreamed of creating an artisan gin distillery in his home county of Leicestershire. With valuable assistance from renowned Master Distiller, Jamie Baxter, Burleigh’s London Dry Gin was born and brought to production in just 8 months.

Fresh, Citrus Botanicals

The name comes from a Leicestershire woodland where, whilst out walking, Jamie discovered crisp fresh botanicals such as Silver Birch, Elderberry, Iris, Dandelion and Burdock. Eleven of the world’s finest botanicals are used to produce this incredibly smooth and balanced 40% ABV gin. The fresh citrus botanical flavours allow you to experiment with your garnish and add some fresh orange peel, orange wedge or even some freshly cut grapefruit.

The gleaming state-of-the-art custom-made Copper Pot, affectionately named Messy Bessy, is capable of producing 650 bottles of this delightful spirit every day.

Burleigh’s & Tonic

Large measure of Burleigh’s London dry gin, poured over ice, fill with Fever-Tree Indian tonic and garnish with an orange wedge to marry with the citrus flavour in the gin’s botanicals.

Tasting notes

  • Nose: Crisp, fresh and vibrant
  • Palate: Dry juniper freshness followed by pine, citrus zest and eucalyptus. Earthy, spicy and floral in the background
  • Finish: long and warming with Parma violet, pine, dry juniper and lavender
