Gin of the Month – Langtons No. 1

Langtons No. 1 has been an important part of our gin collection at Waterhead Bar and Grill since we first started to stock our ever-expanding gin library. It’s one of those gins that has become a firm favourite with many of our guests.

Gin made from Pure Water under Skiddaw

We love it!  Not only because it’s produced in the heart of the Lake District, but also for its deep, refreshing quality which must, in part, be due to the purity of the water we enjoy here in the Lakes.

There is gold in them there hills. In this case, it was the discovery of an aquifer (a body of permeable rock that transmits groundwater) that sits under the mountain of Skiddaw, Keswick and Derwent Water. Langton’s borehole taps into this water source which has been filtered through ancient black slate and which provides pure, clear, slightly sweet, water which perfectly balances the blend of chosen botanicals which includes bark from mighty venerable Oak right here in the Lake District.

Taste of The Lake District

The taste experience starts with a soft understated aroma of juniper on the nose and a floral fresh lift. It’s soft and fresh with a subtle depth on the palate with notes of citrus and a slight sweetness and then a surprisingly smooth finish. The purity of the water makes Langtons No. 1 exceptionally bright and very clear with real depth and substance. We recommend enjoying Langtons No.1 with Fever-Tree Premium Indian tonic water and a wedge of lemon.

Waterhead is currently stocking Langton”s No. 1 as the Gin of the Month. When you are next at Waterhead Bar & Grill make sure its a must try!
