Sunshine Wedding with Surprise Lake Cruise at Low Wood Bay

Andy and Beth recently held their wedding reception at Low Wood Bay, following a ceremony at a local church. We are thrilled that they shared with us details of their wedding along with photos of their wedding celebrations.

In the days leading up to Andy and Beth Wright’s wedding, the weather forecasts were dismal – ‘Gale force winds and snow to make way for cloudy Bank Holiday weekend’  was the prophecy  of doom from one leading newspaper.

Easter Monday dawned, the mist parted and it turned out to be one of the most glorious days of the year to date. In her own words, Beth tells us why Low Wood Bay has a special place in her heart and shares a few memories from their beautiful wedding day.

Proposal on the Lake

I have always loved  Low Wood Bay. From my earliest years growing up and spending time there with friends, create-your-own Sam’s pizza, swimming in the lake, to seeing family and friends getting married there before me, it has been a place of happy memories. The Lake Windermere hotel itself, the setting and the attentive and friendly team made it a firm choice for us as a wedding venue! Also, the fact that Andy chose the Low Wood Bay Marina from which to hire a speed boat, to take me out into the middle of the lake for his romantic proposal, there was no other choice of hotel in the running really.

Grand Wedding Breakfast

A particularly memorable part of my day was when I saw the Windermere Restaurant, just before guests went in for the wedding breakfast. It was exactly as I had imagined in my mind all those months previously, in fact, even better, if that was possible! When we were all seated, taking in the sight of all our guests around us from so many walks of life, all together in the same room to celebrate with us, was just a wonderful feeling for us both.

Surprise Lake Cruise

We chose to surprise our guests prior to the evening reception with a Windermere Lake Cruise from the Low Wood jetty. We had music of our choice over the speakers and the sky was brilliant blue. It was a perfect way for people to view the lovely Lake District scenery.

Fantastic Wedding Location

We were so thrilled with all of our photos, but particularly liked those taken by the lake shore, just along from the hotel. Dave Greaves, our photographer commented on what a fantastic location Low Wood Bay was in terms of the great photo opportunities that could be had! All in all our day was exactly what we wanted and we couldn’t be happier with the help and support that the wedding team gave us, both in the preparation and on the big day!
