Last night English Lakes picked up a national silver award for excellence in VisitEngland’s hospitality, catering and tourism Awards.
The Wild Boar secured a place at the top table at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence 2015, coming in second position in the Tourism Pub of the Year award category.
With the awards attracting nearly 350 contenders from all over the country, the accolades recognise businesses demonstrating best practice, innovation and the highest standards of customer service throughout their operations.
The Vintage By The Sea Festival at The Midland was also in the running at last night’s glittering award ceremony held at the Sage in Gateshead. Its nomination for the Tourism Event of the Year put the festival in the top 5 in its category nationally.
The Wild Boar, Windermere
Set in its own private woodland, The Wild Boar has its own on site microbrewery, the Brewhouse, where guests can experience real ale fermenting sessions, and a smoke house, which supplies the restaurant with meats, cheeses and fish. Its food and accommodation have received rave reviews by Jamie Oliver’s website.
It also offers visitors the opportunity to learn how to smoke food, try out clay pigeon shooting and archery, or take part in whisky tasting evenings.
Vintage By The Sea at The Midland
The Midland created the Vintage By The Sea Festival with Morecambe born Wayne Hemingway and Lancashire based Deco Publique, initially to celebrate the hotel’s 80th anniversary. The highly popular festival is now an annual celebration of British music, fashion, film, art, dance, food and design from the last 80 years. This year’s event runs from 4-6 September 2015.
