Gin of the Month – Brockmans

For April’s Gin of the Month Anthony has chosen Brockmans, a beautifully crafted ultra premium gin, one that is defined by its unique, intensely smooth and original gin taste.

A group of friends got together to share their skills and experience to deliver a gin that was completely new and original. Their knowledge of gin history and fascination and love for the spirit combined with the influence of their individual styles of gin distillation was invaluable. They set about to create a gin that was different to every gin already on the market and one that was intensely smooth and that you could drink neat over ice. Throughout the creation various methods and recipes were tried before deciding they had developed the right balance of the finest botanicals from around the world which brought the taste of Brockmans.



As we know there are various ways of making gin, Brockmans gin is created from a beautiful crafted recipe of naturally grown aromatic botanicals. The botanicals are steeped in pure grain spirit for many hours to release their oils and aromas. From there the spirit is distilled in a 100 year old traditional copper still, where the distinctive gin notes and the aroma of coriander married with the softer notes of blueberry and blackberry help deliver an exquisite new taste experience and an intensely smooth gin.


The 11 botanicals that are used to product Brockmans are sourced from all over the world:

  1. The Juniper comes from Tuscany in Italy which is grown wild, allowing the spice to give a perfume fragrance to the gin, with hints of pine and lavender.
  2. Blueberries are from Northern Europe a unique and original addition of blueberries provides a dry fruity smoothness and wonderfully floral aroma.
  3. Blackberries from various parts of Northern Europe provide a deep perfumey aroma and rich roundness to the taste of Brockmans.
  4. Cassia Bark from Indo China which is often used in spiced gin, gives warm cinnamon notes but softer in aroma.
  5. Liquorice from China, traditional liquorice sticks are important in gin distilling, providing light woody aromas and sweetness on the palate.
  6. Lemon Peel from Murcia in Spain which have a particularly lemony tang in the lemon rind adding a zesty citrus and refreshing brightness.
  7. Coriander comes from Bulgaria, larger coriander seeds that provide a combination of spicy sage and citrus notes.
  8. Angelica from Belgium and Saxony, these Angelica spices provide earthier notes to give Brockmans a sophisticated dry gin edge.
  9. Orange Peel from Murcia in Spain allows sweet orange zest aromas, and is fragrant, fruity and soft on the palate.
  10. Almonds from Spain, the oil from these bitter almonds help to unite all the other wonderful ingredients in the gin recipe and also help to deliver the silky smooth taste.
  11. Orris from Italy provides floral notes with a hint of violet. Orris root also helps to unite all the other elements together.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Fruity and floral
  • Palate: Citrus, fruity, woody and sweat.
  • Finish: Silky smooth with a rich fruity aromas

 Serving Suggestion

For a complex, yet refreshingly smooth taste prepare with a twist of pink grapefruit peel and 2 blueberries. Add ice cubes and chilled premium tonic. The sharp acidity of grapefruit and floral notes of blueberry combine beautifully with the unique botanicals in Brockmans.
