Continuing Waterhead’s links with the art world within our local community, our latest painting featured at Waterhead Reception is a magnificent winter scene by Christine Baines of Ambleside and District Art Society.
This is the view from Christine’s house, in the area known as Loughrigg, situated on the junction of the A593 and Ellers. The painting depicts the dappled light on the ploughed road, with heaps of snow having been pushed to the edges. Then over the gate and wall, dripping with snow covered brambles, across the field and beyond, finally to Wetherlam.
On this occasion the medium is pastel but Christine is equally happy to work in watercolours and oil.
Although she has no formal training, Christine has been drawing and painting from an early age. In 2008 she was elected to be a member of the Lake Artists Society and has been a member of Ambleside and District Art Society for nearly 40 years. Christine’s work is currently on view in Ambleside Parish Centre, for the Art Society Annual Exhibition which runs from 15th October till 26th October.
