Murder Mystery – A Great Night Out!

I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect when our party of seven arrived at The Wild Boar Inn for a Fawlty Towers meets Murder Mystery evening on Friday! Yes, it was everything that has just come to mind … Manuel in full slapstick style, Sybil’s soul shivering shrieks, Polly lending a note of sanity to the madness, a murder, a few red herrings and of course, Basil’s bumptious buffoonery! All this, plus a chorus or two of operatic singing, a bowl of salad being let loose across the room, a mysterious German guest but ‘don’t mention the war’, a cleverly crafted plot to keep you guessing ‘who dunnit?’, champagne, canapés and a three-course meal from The Wild Boar Inn, Grill and Smokehouse.

The After Dark Theater Company have already been booked for 117 events this year and have an established reputation for quality comedic productions, having won Best International Show at the 2011 Fringe Festival and sell out events since 2009 at The Edinburgh Fringe.

It did not take the various parties in the room very long to feel part of the plot as we took on the role of investigators, commissioned to solve the mystery of the dastardly deed. Picking through the clues and putting the cast under intense scrutiny after each course paid off, and our team eventually brought the perpetrator to justice and won a bottle of champagne for our efforts!

If you’ve got a birthday, anniversary, family celebration coming up or you just want a good night out with friends, I thoroughly recommend one of the Murder Mystery events.

The Wild Boar is hosting another Fawlty Towers Murder Mystery event this Wednesday (16th February) and I believe there are still a few places at the Mamma Mia Murder Mystery at The Midland on 1st February.
