In a year that has given so many reasons to celebrate such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, The Olympics, as well as English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues celebrating its own 60th Birthday, the Lancaster House team have been inspired to challenge themselves once again for a local charity who are also this year celebrating their own 25th anniversary.
Primrose House, near Morecambe is a small, charitable trust providing 24/7 residential care for young adults with severe physical and mental disabilities. Although reaching a milestone in its history, Primrose House still struggles day to day with raising much needed funds to help continue its amazing work. So, a team from Lancaster House have decided to mark all these occasions and help the charity with an epic, Torch-relay inspired run around all of the English Lakes Hotels in one day, finally ending up at Primrose House. Although instead of a torch, the runners, who will each undertake their own 5 mile section of the 60-mile route, will be carrying a Christmas Cracker. The generous contents of which will be donated to the charity at the end of the run.
Completing the final leg of the route will be Tim Bell, General Manager of the Lancaster House who will hand over the cracker to Phil & Diane Grainger, founders of Primrose, who were also this year recognised as one of the English Lakes Community Champions for their outstanding contribution to charitable work and the local community.
The run passes our Lake District Hotels and will start at 6am on Tuesday 18th of December at the Waterhead Hotel in Ambleside, and then will follow a series of paths and roads, passing the Low Wood Bay, The Wild Boar Inn, Crook, Storrs Hall, Bowness, before the long trek across the Cumbrian/Lancashire border to Lancaster House, through the streets of the city, across the bridge to The Midland Hotel, Morecambe, then the final stretch to Primrose House where the runners will celebrate the end of the run by also hosting a Christmas Tea Party for all the staff, volunteers and trustees for the charity.
Throughout December, Christmas party guests can make donations with the nightly Champagne Prize Draw, but donations can also be made by visiting the official Just Giving page or by texting PRIM60 to 70070, where £2.00 will be automatically donated via your phone bill.
The team have set themselves a fund-raising target of £1000.
